The study explores how Direct Laser Interference Patterning (DLIP) can be implemented using a high-power multimode nanosecond fiber laser through the ELIPSYS® system developed by SurFunction GmbH. This approach enables precise periodic microstructures to be fabricated over large areas, demonstrating the scalability of DLIP for industrial use.

Key Focus:
Developing a high-speed, high-precision DLIP process suitable for industrial-scale microstructuring.

Key Outputs:

  • Realization of interference patterns with 24 µm periodicity over a 0.6 mm focus range
  • Identification of an optimal process window for uniform structures (depth variation < 15 %)
  • Demonstrated scalability for large and complex geometries
  • Validation of fiber-laser-based DLIP as a reliable and efficient manufacturing method

These findings mark a major step toward integrating laser interference patterning into industrial manufacturing, supporting the Made in Europe initiative by strengthening Europe’s technological and production capabilities through innovation and research.
