English

Dr. Thomas Dahmen from Asgaard Metals (Denmark) will present the company’s circular spray-forming ecosystem, which rethinks the production of high-alloy tool steels. In his talk, he will explain how end-of-life tool steel can be directly reprocessed and transformed through targeted spray compaction into semifinished products that can exceed the performance of conventional PM grades, while significantly reducing environmental impact and production costs. He will also discuss the generation of high-quality gas-atomized powder as an inherent by-product, offering valuable feedstock for additive manufacturing.

Circular Spray Forming Ecosystems: Democratizing PM tool steel

Asgaard Metals (Denmark) is developing a circular spray-forming ecosystem that redefines the production of high-alloy tool steels. The approach directly processes end-of-life tool steel and converts it through targeted spray compaction into semifinished products whose performance can even surpass that of conventional PM steels. This is achieved with substantially lower environmental impact and reduced production costs. In parallel, the process generates high-quality gas-atomized powder as a valuable by-product, ready for use in additive manufacturing applications.
