The Georg Sachs Prize is jointly offered by the "Stifterverband Metalle e.V." and the "Fachverband der Nichteisen-Metallindustrie of Austria". The "Stifterverband Metalle e.V." established a prize in 1967 to promote young scientists in the field of non-ferrous metals. This prize is awarded annually to honor the best achievements of young scientists. The name of the prize is the "Georg Sachs Prize of the Stifterverband Metalle and the Austrian Metal Industry Association". The prize is awarded at most once a year, for the first time in 1968. The awarding of the prize can be suspended if no work is recognized as worthy of the prize. A division of the prize is permissible. The prize consists of a certificate confirming the awarding of the appreciation, stating the awarded work, and a medal. The award is announced publicly on the occasion of a central event of the DGM of the corresponding year (e.g. DGM Day). The announcement of the awarded prize is also made in the central presentation media of the DGM.
