Achievements in the field of metallography
Roland Mitsche Prize

The Roland Mitsche Prize is endowed in memory of the mentor of Austrian metallurgy, the first holder of the Chair of Metallurgy and Materials Testing at the University of Leoben, and the founder of the international Leoben Metallography Meetings. The sponsors of this prize are the "Fachverband der Nichteisen-Metallindustrie of Austria", the technical-scientific association ASMET, and the DGM. The prize is awarded for special achievements and merits in the field of metallography. Such achievements and merits are, for example, the development of new or further development of metallographic procedures and methods, the use of metallographic methods in the solution of metallurgical problems, or the training of young metallographers.

The prize is awarded for special achievements and merits in the field of metallography. Such achievements and merits are to be seen, for example, in the development of new or further development of metallographic procedures and methods, in the use of metallographic methods in the solution of metallurgical problems, or the training of young metallographers. The award ceremony takes place during the Metallography Conference every two years, alternating with the Metallography Award. The Roland Mitsche Prize can be awarded to one or more prize winners or a working group.

The selection of the candidates is made by a five-member jury of the following composition: two German colleagues nominated by the DGM; three Austrian colleagues, one each nominated by the Professional Association of the Metal Industry and ASMET; the third is the board of the Institute of Physical Metallurgy and Materials Testing or its deputy. The chairman is elected from among them.

The distribution of prizes is carried out under the exclusion of the legal process.
