MSE2020: Off and running

This year’s “Materials Science and Engineering Congress” (MSE) has entered the virtual stage. After Prof. Dr. Sanjay Mathur (Congress Chair) officially held his opening address the attendees spread across the Conference Platform provided by the German Materials Society (DGM). By doing so, they listened to scientific lectures, got a close look at poster contributions, visited the Virtual Exhibition, and took the chance to connect with one another – all in all to raise the excitement prior to the upcoming days.

Out of the 1.000+ registered participants a total 733 from 45 different countries found their way through the WWW to join the Conference Platform. Given the wide variety of scientific topics, many attendees got in touch with like-minded scientists and peeked at unknown fields of interest by a single click.

The many symposia were highlighted by two plenary lectures presented by Prof. Yang-Kook Sun (Hanyang University) and Prof. Dr. Eric Le Bourhis (Université de Poitiers). Although the Scientific Program came to a close at 5.50pm (CEST) many participants remained on the Conference Platform to enjoy the respective functionalities such as watching contributions missed in re-live mode – what led to high access rates until the late hours.
