After the official welcome by Prof. Dr.-Ing. Guntram Wagner (Head of the Committee, Chemnitz University of Technology) and Dr. Stefan Klein (Managing Director, German Materials Society), the committee immediately got into the discussion about the feasibility and meaningfulness of holding the "Composites and Material Composites" conference. To actually be able to hold the symposium on site in Leoben, Austria, the participants came to the conclusion to postpone the event until 2022 - a date in the month of July is being considered.

To prominently represent the discipline in 2021 nevertheless, the committee initiated the installation of a digital, interactive special event on the topic of composites and material composites, which are to be depicted online. The period from 29 – 30 June 2021, has been scheduled for the event - further information will follow the planning now underway after the turn of the year via the homepage of the German Materials Society (DGM).

It is planned to offer various formats and program items as part of the special event, which will provide participants with added value in terms of content. Among other things, pitch presentations from a wide range of institutions as well as interactive discussion rounds are to take place.

The Joint Committee will hold its next meeting on March 25, 2021.
