The International Metallographic Society is an affiliate of the American Society for Metals (ASM International). As a professional society, it promotes the exchange of international experts in the field of metallography through conferences, training courses, awards, and publications. Its goals are similar to those of the DGM Expert Committee Materialography, although its traditional scope differs geographically. While the IMS has its home in the USA and maintains international contacts and cooperations from there, the DGM has its home and principal place of activity in the German-speaking area. With the joint symposium, we would like to make you curious about the activities and offers of the respective other professional society and strengthen the international exchange of our professional societies.
