Dear Members of the DGM,
Dear Friends and MatWerk Enthusiasts,
An eventful year is coming to a close, a year marked by intense exchanges, exciting projects, and fresh momentum that shaped our shared journey.
Before we dive into the coming year with renewed energy, we wish you a restful and inspiring holiday season. This time of year offers the perfect opportunity to recharge, reflect on past achievements, and gather new ideas. Take this chance to focus on yourself, your loved ones, and those activities that often take a backseat during the busy year.
The past two years of serving in the presidency have provided us with invaluable insights into the diverse facets of the DGM. These experiences highlighted the deep connection between the work of all committees and the responsibility we hold towards our members and the wider community. They also strengthened our understanding of the DGM’s pivotal role in materials science and engineering. It has been a period to drive forward our own initiatives, foster closer collaboration within our community, and, above all, deepen our appreciation for actively serving this vibrant network.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who attended DGM events. Without the dedication of our volunteer organizers, neither the planning nor execution of these diverse activities would have been possible. Our gratitude also goes to our loyal members, whose trust forms the foundation of our work.
Looking ahead to the coming year, we are optimistic and ready to pass the baton to our successors, Prof. Dr.-Ing. Gunther Eggeler and Dr.-Ing. Till Schneiders, with whom we have already collaborated closely over the past two years. They will be supported by Prof. Dr.-Ing. Mathias Göken and Dr.-Ing. Blanka Lenczowski. We all look forward to meeting you again in the new year – perhaps at the MaterialsWeek. The MatFo2025 Materials Research Conference, titled “Material Innovations for the Transformation of Economy and Society” and organized by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research, will kick off the MaterialsWeek 2025. Prepare for inspiring contributions, lively discussions, and opportunities to explore the latest insights and networks for sustainable transformation.
Wishing you a peaceful and rejuvenating holiday season, and we look forward to reconnecting in the new year!
