Small Group Learning With Personal Attention
The training took place in small groups, which allowed for more individual attention and intensive discussions. The personal exchange also continued outside the lectures: an evening together at the restaurant "Sitte" provided a pleasant opportunity for networking and professional exchange in a relaxed atmosphere.
Combining Theory and Practice
The lectures were held in the high-rise building of the University of Applied Sciences Darmstadt – with an impressive view of Frankfurt, despite the less than ideal weather. In addition to in-depth theoretical content, the focus was on the practical part of the course: exercises on macrosections and damage cases allowed the participants to directly apply what they had learned. A special highlight was the toughness test. Participants were able to perform their own tests and differentiate between tough and brittle fractures based on the fracture noise - a vivid and memorable learning experience.
Practical Implications
The course covered the essential fundamentals of metallurgy and its importance in manufacturing processes and material selection. The close integration of theory and practical exercises helped participants to apply what they had learned directly to their work. From material testing and heat treatment to alloy analysis, the course provided valuable skills for the workplace.
Looking Ahead
The consistently positive feedback from attendees shows how valuable this course is for engineers and technicians who want to gain a basic understanding of metallurgy. Those who missed this spring's event can look forward to the next one in September – an ideal opportunity to deepen their knowledge and exchange ideas with industry experts.
