The program offered a successful mix of online and in-person presentations. Gaby Ketzer-Raichle from Aalen University opened the technical part with an exciting online presentation on “Machine Learning and AI in Materialography.” This was followed by a live presentation by Dirk Feldmann and Rainer Schneidewind from Imagic Bildverarbeitung AG on innovative applications of their digital image management system IMS and AI-based image analysis methods.
A highlight was the practical short presentation directly at the Zeiss M2M microscope, where participants were also able to have their own samples (slides) analyzed. The combination of online lecture and practical live demonstration took place for the second time and was once again very well received.
Between the program items, a coffee break provided an opportunity for informal exchange, which continued in a relaxed atmosphere during the joint get-together at Trattoria Muntagnola.
The metallographers' meeting once again demonstrated how important and successful direct professional dialogue and personal networking are in materialography. The Lette Verein metallography team would like to thank all contributors and participants for their great interest and is already looking forward to the next meeting. A second meeting is planned for late fall (November) this year. Speakers are still being sought.
