Additive 2026 will take place in the unique atmosphere of the Sophie Henschel House in Kassel, now home to the Institute of Materials Technology at the University of Kassel. Where steam locomotives were once produced, the focus today is on digital manufacturing and materials development. The conference will highlight this transformation: from conventional processes to additive technologies, from the industrial revolution to digital production.
For Prof. Dr.-Ing. Thomas Niendorf, chairman of the symposium, Kassel is the ideal location for this event:
“I associate Kassel with the courage to change and the freedom for new ideas - both of which are essential for additive manufacturing.”
The conference sees itself as an interdisciplinary meeting place where technological, scientific, and design perspectives come together. Its proximity to documenta, one of the world's most important exhibitions of contemporary art, underscores this special connection between technology and culture. Thus, Additive 2026 will not only be a platform for presenting the latest research results, but also a place for reflection, exchange, and creative questions about the future.
Interested parties are invited to actively participate: the call for abstracts is now open. Contributions can be submitted for in-person participation in Kassel as well as for the virtual program. The aim is to foster an open dialogue about the potential, challenges, and applications of additive manufacturing—from metal-based processes to polymer systems, from design freedom to process monitoring.
Abstract Submission Deadline: 01 September 2025
