Students from various disciplines work together to develop bioinspired solutions for the technology of tomorrow.
The central question was: How can technology become more sustainable through biological principles?
Dr. Rainer Erb, Managing Director of BIOKON, the Biomimetics Network of Excellence, provided answers in a keynote speech. He explained the concept of the “biologization of technology” - from thought models and international best practices to concrete application and relevance for the specialists of tomorrow.
From theory to application:
In the workshop, the participants used bioinspired methods to develop innovative solutions for processing thermoplastic composites (organic sheets). They were also supported by Maurice Rasch, bionics alumnus and employee at Fraunhofer IWU, who presented the calender direct impregnation system and was available as a digital sparring partner.
The result was creative biologization posters that not only reflect what has been learned, but also contribute to the further dissemination of the approach in the university's faculties.
Conclusion:
An inspiring exchange across disciplines, which shows that the future of technology also comes from nature.
