ICAA 2026: Call for Aluminium Research Contributions | First Keynote Speakers Announced

The 20th International Conference on Aluminium Alloys (ICAA) invites researchers to submit abstracts for lectures and posters by 31 January 2026. The conference will take place in Berlin and online, bringing together the global aluminium community to exchange knowledge from fundamental research to industrial applications.

The International Conference on Aluminium Alloys (ICAA) has opened the call for abstracts for its 20th edition, scheduled for 2026 in Berlin and online. Researchers from academia and industry are encouraged to submit their latest findings in aluminium alloy science and technology, with contributions spanning alloy design, processing innovations, and advanced applications. The program will highlight the latest developments in the field and foster dialogue between researchers and practitioners.

Early-career researchers are explicitly invited to participate and showcase their work alongside leading experts. Contributions can be submitted as oral presentations or posters, and the deadline for abstract submission is 31 January 2026.

A dedicated highlight of ICAA 2026 will be the Dr. David J. Lloyd Memorial Symposium on Physical Metallurgy, honoring the late David Lloyd’s influential work on 5xxx and 6xxx aluminium alloys and metal matrix composites. Submissions addressing precipitation phenomena, deformation behavior, and microstructure control in these alloys — as well as broader topics inspired by Lloyd’s research — are particularly welcome. Former colleagues, students, and collaborators are encouraged to share their perspectives and insights in this commemorative session.

The first keynote speakers for ICAA 2026 have also been announced. The opening plenary sessions will feature:

  • Prof. Mark Easton, RMIT University, Australia
  • Prof. Randi Holmestad, Norwegian University of Science and Technology, Norway
  • Prof. Dr. Dierk Raabe, Max Planck Institute for Sustainable Materials, Germany
  • Dr. Timothy Warner, Constellium, France

With its international reach and interdisciplinary focus, ICAA continues to serve as a platform for advancing aluminium research and connecting the global community. Participants can join the event in Berlin or online, ensuring broad accessibility.

Further details, including abstract submission guidelines and registration information, are available on the ICAA 2026 website.
