Conference organizers invite to MET 2025: networking and expert insights

Prof. Dr.-Ing. Michael Pohl and Prof. Dr. Sebastian Weber cordially invite the metallographic community to Bochum for the 59th “Metallographie-Tagung”. On 08 – 10 October 2025, the conference at the Ruhr University Bochum will offer a diverse program combining technical presentations, company tours, an exhibition, and a program on mining history.

“Dear metallographic community, we are delighted to invite you to this year's Metallography Conference, which will take place on 08 – 10 October 2025, in the heart of the Ruhr region at the Ruhr University Bochum, for the second time since 2004. You can look forward to an exciting program with lectures, poster presentations, and company tours, as well as an appealing supporting program — all in a city that stands like no other for successful structural change in a region shaped by the mining industry.

Early arrivals and participants in the Expert Committee Materialography can attend a presentation at the state-of-the-art planetarium on 07 October. Before the conference begins, company tours will offer a spectrum of topics ranging from steel to shape memory alloys and from additive manufacturing to hydrogen embrittlement. The history of mining will be presented on the welcome evening in the mining museum on the winding tower and with a mine tour.

The conference offers you the opportunity to exchange ideas with experts in metallography, discuss the latest research results, and establish valuable networks. A special highlight will be the accompanying exhibition of the latest equipment and technologies in the field of metallography.

We recommend that you register today to secure your place. Further information on the program, the speakers, registration and ticket booking, as well as hotel recommendations can be found on the conference website.

We look forward to welcoming you to Bochum and shaping the future of metallography together.

Glückauf!"
