Additive 2026: Shaping the Future Where Technology Has a History – From 24 to 26 March in Kassel

The “5th Symposium on Materials and Additive Manufacturing - Additive 2026” brings the international additive manufacturing community to Kassel. A city with a long tradition of technological innovation. From 24 to 26 March 2026, the University of Kassel invites researchers and industry representatives to discuss new approaches to additive manufacturing. Abstracts can be submitted until 01 September 2025.

High above Kassel, in the Bergpark Wilhelmshöhe, a historic masterpiece has been demonstrating what engineering excellence can mean for over 300 years: without pumps or electricity, the water in the baroque cascades flows up to 50 meters high solely through the force of gravity. A symbol of sustainable technology and a fitting start to a conference dedicated entirely to the future of construction and production.

"Kassel shows how technology can outlast generations – and that is precisely what additive manufacturing aims to do: creating solutions that last," says Prof. Dr.-Ing. Thomas Niendorf from the University of Kassel, chairman of the Additive 2026 symposium. The conference will bring together experts from research, industry, and technology development to address key issues in additive manufacturing: from new materials and digital process chains to scalability for industrial applications.

The University of Kassel focuses its research specifically on sustainability, resource efficiency, and technical longevity. Additive manufacturing plays a key role here: it enables flexible and material-efficient manufacturing processes a central topic in times of global upheaval and increasing demands on sustainable production systems.

Whether on site in Kassel or connected digitally, participation in Additive 2026 offers not only the opportunity to present current research, but also to actively network with colleagues from all over the world. Abstract submissions are open until 01 September 2025.
