DGZfP and DGM Sign Memorandum of Understanding: Working Together for the Future of Industry 4.0

The German Society for Non-Destructive Testing and the German Society for Materials Science have recently signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU). The aim of this strategic partnership is to combine materials and manufacturing technology with state-of-the-art testing technology in order to drive forward innovations for Industry 4.0.

The focus is on two key areas: Firstly, the integration of materials and manufacturing technology with testing technology is to be promoted through increased interdisciplinary cooperation. This will optimize the exchange of knowledge and technologies while supporting the development of standards and best practices that enable the effective use of modern testing methods in manufacturing. Secondly, it is about horizontal networking in the age of Industry 4.0. Here, the focus is on strengthening data integration and data exchange between the two companies in order to enable further technical development. In addition, platforms are to be created that allow targeted analysis and use of data, thereby contributing to improved product quality and safety.

The collaboration builds on the strengths of both organizations: While the DGM network has in-depth expertise in materials/manufacturing technology, the DGZfP contributes comprehensive expertise in testing technology and applicable NDT methods. Together, both societies are driving forward standards, new technologies, and the interdisciplinary exchange of knowledge and data.

“With this cooperation, we are pooling our expertise to make the industry fit for the future,” says Dr. Thomas Wenzel, Executive Board Member of the DGZfP. “Especially in times of Industry 4.0, interdisciplinary networks are crucial for implementing sustainable innovations.”

Dr. Stefan Klein, Managing Director of the DGM, also emphasizes: “Our members and partners will benefit directly from the synergies – whether through joint workshops, new platforms for knowledge exchange, or the mutual promotion of important events.”

The MoU is a clear commitment to long-term cooperation. In addition to joint projects and events, there will be further initiatives that can be supplemented flexibly and as needed.
