“Magnettage 2026”: New Platform for Permanent Magnets Launches in Aalen

From 03 to 05 March 2026, the German Society for Materials Science (DGM) will be hosting the first Magnet Days in collaboration with Aalen University, Pforzheim University, and TU Darmstadt. This new event format brings together research, application, and networking in the field of magnetic materials. The focus will be on permanent magnets, with a practical program combining training, specialist presentations, and committee work.

Magnetic materials have become indispensable in modern technology, from electromobility and sensor technology to energy supply. The Magnet Days 2026 will now create a forum that brings together experts from science and industry. Multiple parts form the backbone of the new platform: continuing education and a symposium.

The Kickoff: Continuing Education with Practical Relevance
The event kicks off with a 1.5 - day continuing training course covering key physical fundamentals as well as current challenges in magnetic materials technology. The aim is to provide participants from research, development, and application with a practical overview — from material design and manufacturing processes to technology trends in the field of permanent magnets.

Conference with Presentations, Posters, and Lab Tours
On the second day of the event, the focus will be on the magnet conference: lectures will highlight new developments, innovative applications, and current research projects. An accompanying poster session will provide an opportunity for discussion and networking, while laboratory tours will offer insights into the experimental work being carried out on site – directly at Aalen University, a location with outstanding expertise in magnetic materials.

Scientific Support and Interdisciplinary Approach
The program committee underscores the technical depth of the event: Prof. Dr. Dagmar Goll, Prof. Dr. Gerhard Schneider (both from Aalen University), Prof. Dr. Carlo Burkhardt (Pforzheim University of Applied Sciences), and Prof. Dr. Oliver Gutfleisch (Technical University of Darmstadt) contribute their many years of expertise in magnetic materials research and design the program to be interdisciplinary and practical.

Be There in Person or Online
The Magnet Days 2026 will take place at Aalen University in eastern Baden-Württemberg, a region that combines technology, history, and quality of life. Participation is possible both in person and digitally. Further information, program updates, and the opportunity to submit contributions will follow shortly.
