Successful DGM Seminar “Soldering – Fundamentals and Applications” in Aachen

The DGM training course, "Soldering: Fundamentals and Applications," took place on 17 and 18 September 2025, at the Institute for Surface Technology (IOT) at RWTH Aachen University. Twelve participants from industry and research took part in the event, which the DGM organized in collaboration with the IOT.

The two-day training course offered a balanced mix of in-depth technical presentations and hands-on exercises. The technical focus was on material-bonded joining of metallic materials, including both same-type and different-type materials. The material- and process-related aspects of soldering were examined in detail. Speakers from the IOT and external industry experts provided valuable insights into current soldering technology developments and challenges.

The two practical sessions, one in the soldering hall and one in the institute's analysis rooms, were particularly interesting. Participants had the opportunity to apply their newly acquired theoretical knowledge and become familiar with modern analysis methods. These exercises taught technical skills and provided exciting insights into current research topics at the IOT in soldering technology.

The group size was ideal for facilitating open and intensive exchanges. Lively discussions developed during the technical presentations, with participants contributing their experiences and asking the speakers specific questions. These discussions contributed significantly to the lively atmosphere and learning success.

Participants consistently gave positive feedback. They particularly praised the practical focus, the speakers' high level of expertise, and the event's excellent organization. Through this seminar, the DGM has once again succeeded in providing high-quality, relevant training and fostering scientific exchange.

Outlook: The next seminar, "Soldering: Fundamentals and Applications," will be held in Aachen from 23 to 24 September 2026. As this training course is very popular, early registration is recommended to secure a spot.
