DFG and CAPES Launch Joint Call for German-Brazilian Research Projects in Production and Manufacturing Technology

The German Research Foundation (DFG) and the Brazilian Federal Agency for Support and Evaluation of Graduate Education (CAPES) are calling for joint research projects in the field of production and manufacturing technology. The aim is to promote bilateral cooperation that investigates innovative technologies such as digitalization, artificial intelligence, and cyber-physical systems in production processes.

Aim of the Call
On 12 November 2025, the DFG and CAPES will launch a joint call for German-Brazilian research projects. Funding will be provided for projects that focus on production systems and manufacturing processes and use state-of-the-art technologies and methods. These include advanced digitalization, cyber-physical systems, artificial intelligence, machine learning, optimization, and simulation. The aim is to increase efficiency, productivity, energy efficiency, resilience, and sustainability in production.

Conditions and Duration of the Projects
Applications must be based on existing collaborations between German and Brazilian partners. Projects will initially be funded for up to two years, with the possibility of an extension for a further two years. Proposals must be submitted simultaneously to the DFG and CAPES, in German and English, using the elan electronic platform for German applicants.
