Prof. Maik Fröhlich from the Leupold Institute for Applied Natural Sciences (LIAN) at the West Saxon University of Applied Sciences in Zwickau was the host. He warmly welcomed the participants and provided a technically diverse framework for the meeting.
PLASMA GERMANY is an open competence network dedicated to plasma-based surface treatment processes. Its structure as a joint committee reflects the highly interdisciplinary nature of plasma technology. The network provides a forum for exchange, cooperation, and the development of innovative processes. The German Society for Materials Science (DGM) is one of ten organizations that support the network. Together, these organizations bring research, development, and application in this field closer together.
The spring and fall meetings are important gatherings for members and other interested individuals in the field of plasma technology. In addition to technical presentations and visits to institutes and companies, the general meeting provides information on conferences, collaborations, and funding programs. The network's openness is a special feature. Membership is free and open to all professionals in the field.
At the meeting in Zwickau, Dr. Burkhard Zimmermann from Fraunhofer FEP was unanimously accepted as a new committee member. Michael Liehr was also confirmed as chairman of the business committee for another four years. Topics covered at the meeting ranged from simulation and artificial intelligence to wastewater treatment processes and plasma technologies in microelectronics. This variety of topics highlights the committee's importance as a platform for current developments.
