DGM-Mentoring-Program

Junior staff work does not just involve organizing and supporting students at local universities and colleges.

Accordingly, the DGM's Young Professionals Committee is again offering a mentoring program for students in their final semesters for the 2023/2024 academic year.

In practice, 1:1 mentoring tandems are put together via a central matching procedure. Mentors and mentees get to know each other intensively for the first time at a kick-off event. Further meetings are organized individually by the tandems.

The aim of the Mentoring-Program, which runs for one academic year, is to offer a regular, extensive opportunity for exchange with professionally experienced DGM'ers who have decided on either a scientific or industrial career and would like to pass on their experience. Here, practical perspectives from research and industry are intended to enable the mentees to make a suitable career decision for themselves and to define themselves in their role for the coming years. But mentors also often benefit from the fresh perspectives of young people in the orientation phase and can thus also reflect on their positioning in professional life.

Mentoring is accompanied by a joint program in which offers are made for further training and excursions.
