More than the sum of the constituents!

Innovative materials are very often the trailblazer for the introduction of new technologies or products. The other way around, multifaceted and demanding requirements of components yield to more and more different material combinations. The combination of different materials leads to new challenges for joining and processing, design principles and many more aspects. Therefore, the topic of hybrid materials and structures needs to be addressed interdisciplinary.

The 5^th International Conference Hybrid Materials and Structures treats the broad spectrum of topics from base materials to design and from manufacturing to applications. Hence, the base for a serious discussion on the behavior of material and components under application specific conditions will be provided. The only limitation is on material combinations for structural applications.

The event will be hosted by Montanuniversität Leoben in Austria. The history of the university dates back to 1840 and since that time, the scientific and educational focus at Montanuniversität Leoben was on the added value chain of ferrous and nonferrous metals. In 1970, the orientation of the university was expanded to all major classes of materials including polymers, ceramics as well as material compounds and composites. In this context, Montanuniversität Leoben is a designated center for excellent research and education on materials and thus, an ideal venue for the 5^th International Conference on Hybrid Materials and Structures.

The conference provides a fruitful mixture of presentations, discussions and exhibition. An interdisciplinary exchange of industry and academia supports individual networking.

At the same time and location the 23. Symposium „Verbundwerkstoffe und Werkstoffverbunde“ takes place. Participation at both events is possible with one conference ticket only. Social events will be carried out jointly.
