Successful advanced training course on metallurgy at Darmstadt University of Applied Sciences

From 5 to 8 March 2024, the "Introduction to Metallurgy for Engineers and Technicians" advanced training course took place at Darmstadt University of Applied Sciences. The event, which covered a wide range of topics from the basics of metallurgy and alloy science to specific materials testing, once again proved to be a magnet for experts from various disciplines.

The importance of in-depth knowledge of metallurgy for modern engineering science and technology can hardly be overestimated. This was once again emphasized by the latest training course "Introduction to Metallurgy". Led by Prof. Dr. Mario Säglitz, the training course attracted participants from diverse professional backgrounds and provided a comprehensive platform to explore both basic and advanced aspects of metallurgy.

The event gave participants an insight into the topic and the opportunity to refresh or deepen their knowledge of metallurgy. The training course’s presentations initially covered the basics of metallurgy and alloy science, before important wrought and cast materials based on iron, as well as non-ferrous metals, were on the agenda.

In addition to the lectures, laboratory practicals on Wednesday and Thursday afternoons gave participants the opportunity to gain an even better understanding of what they had learnt through practical experience. These practicals were a highlight as they enabled theoretical knowledge to be put into practical applications and a deeper understanding of the subject matter to be developed.

A joint dinner on the first day of the seminar was used to make new professional contacts in a cosy atmosphere and to promote exchange and networking among the participants.

The organizers and speakers are already looking forward to the next seminar in September 2024, which will once again bring together experts from different fields to deepen their understanding of metallurgy and discuss current challenges in materials science together.
