SuMAT 2027 takes place at the Max Planck Institute for Sustainable Materials in Düsseldorf - the Max Planck institute that researches how the materials modern industry depends on can be produced, used and recycled without the carbon. The city sits on the Rhine at the centre of Europe's densest industrial region, with an international airport and ICE connections in every direction.

Lectures, posters and the exhibition take place at the institute on Max-Planck-Straße, about 12 minutes from Düsseldorf Hauptbahnhof on bus 834.
Düsseldorf has its own international airport with a long-distance rail station attached, sits on the Cologne-Dortmund ICE corridor, and is ringed by the A3, A44, A46, A52 and A57.
ICE and IC services call at Düsseldorf Hauptbahnhof - Cologne 25 min, Frankfurt 1 h 30 min, Amsterdam 2 h 15 min. DB Event Tickets are available for participants.
Düsseldorf Airport (DUS) is 10 km north of the city. The S11 reaches the main station in about 12 min, and long-distance ICE trains call at the airport station.
From the A3 take the exit Düsseldorf/Mettmann, follow the B7 into the city, leave it at Stauffenplatz and turn into Sohnstraße after about 1 km.
Rheinbahn runs the U-Bahn, trams and buses. From the main station, bus 834 towards Oberkassel stops at Sohnstraße, 100 m from the institute.
Düsseldorf has hotels in every category around the main station, the old town and the trade-fair district, all a short bus or U-Bahn ride from the venue. Book early - the city's trade-fair calendar fills rooms quickly.
