A welcome note from the Symposium Chair on the themes and focus of ESOMAT 2027.
Dear colleagues,
We are pleased to announce the 14th European Symposium on Martensitic Transformations (ESOMAT 2027), which will be hosted from 6 – 10 September 2027 in Bochum, Germany and organized by the Ruhr University Bochum in collaboration with Helmholtz-Zentrum Dresden-Rossendorf. ESOMAT is a prominent event in the field of materials science for over three decades. The symposium, which originated in Bochum in 1989, has since become a key gathering for scientists and researchers working on martensitic transformation phenomena, shape memory alloys, magnetic shape memory alloys, and the role of martensite in steels and ceramics.
The symposium will cover a comprehensive range of topics related to martensitic transformations, encompassing both theoretical and applied aspects of the field. Key themes include:
The venue for ESOMAT 2027 will be hosted on the Ruhr University Bochum campus, a modern and dynamic location equipped with state-of-the-art facilities to facilitate productive discussions, networking, and the exchange of ideas.
We look forward to welcome you to Bochum for ESOMAT 2027, where you will have the opportunity to engage with the European and global community of materials scientists and contribute to the advancement of our understanding of martensitic transformations, their applications, and their potential integrations in new technologies.
We are excited to bring together leading experts from academia, industry, and research institutions for this landmark event. Whether you are presenting your latest research or attending to learn from peers, ESOMAT 2027 will be an invaluable experience for anyone interested in transforming martensite to real-world applications.
