This year's Matallography Conference in Saarbrücken will be complemented by a joint symposium with the International Metallographic Society (IMS). The cooperation between the DGM Expert Committee on Materialography and the IMS, which already began last year as an online format within the framework of the 55th Metallography Conference, is now to be ceremoniously inaugurated in presence and filled with technical content through top-class lectures.

The International Metallographic Society is an affiliate of the American Society for Metals (ASM International). As a professional society, it promotes the exchange of international experts in the field of metallography through conferences, training courses, awards and publications. In this way, it pursues similar goals as the DGM Expert Committee on Materialography, although its traditional sphere of activity differs geographically. While the IMS has its home in the USA and maintains international contacts and cooperations from there, the DGM has its home and main place of activity in the German-speaking area. With the joint symposium we would like to make you curious about the activities and offers of the respective other professional society and strengthen our international exchange.
