Welcome & Conference Scope
A welcome note from the Conference Chair on the themes and focus of H₂MSE 2027.
Dear colleagues,
Hydrogen's role in the decarbonisation of our energy systems — both as a clean fuel and as a long-term storage medium — introduces complex challenges for materials in high-pressure environments, in contact with gaseous H2, and in storage solutions. Solving these challenges requires interdisciplinary collaboration.
Hydrogen research today brings together materials scientists, test engineers, chemists and physicists from universities, research institutions and industry. The 2nd Conference on Hydrogen in Materials Science and Engineering provides a platform for sharing and discussing new research results — from experiments and simulations.

The conference will be held from 23 to 25 February 2027 in Kassel, Germany, in a hybrid format that opens it to colleagues joining from anywhere in the world.
