The Joint European Magnetic Symposia (JEMS) is the leading and most comprehensive conference on magnetism in Europe. It serves as a platform for researchers, industry professionals, and students to explore the latest advancements in fundamental and applied magnetism. JEMS covers a broad spectrum of topics, including fascinating new fundamental phenomena, novel magnetic materials and their applications.
We are excited to invite you to JEMS 2025, which will take place from August 24 to 29, 2025, in a hybrid format—allowing participants to join onsite in Frankfurt, Germany, or online. The conference will feature plenary, semi-plenary, and contributed talks, as well as poster sessions showcasing cutting-edge research. Renowned invited speakers will present significant breakthroughs in the field, making this an unmissable event for both established scientists and young researchers.
We at the Dep. of Functional Materials at TU Darmstadt have the great honor to take the lead in organizing JEMS 2025. It is our pleasure to do this under the umbrella of the European Magnetism Association (EMA) and the IAC of JEMS. I thank my co-chairs, our highly committed local organization committee and very importantly the Program co-chairs and symposium chairs who shape the scientific excellence of our conference.
The strong support of the Rhine-Main-Universities (RMU) alliance is gratefully acknowledged, as is that of our Technical Service Provider Deutsche Gesellschaft für Materialkunde e.V.
We strive to make JEMS 2025 a sustainable event, and Frankfurt’s central location should allow many attendees to come by train. In the true spirit of EMA, we want to make JEMS 2025 diverse and inclusive for all, by offering online access for those who can’t travel, be it for budgetary or other reasons, including travel restrictions. To facilitate easy movement around Frankfurt, free public transport tickets will be provided to all on-site attendees.
In these times of fake news, of strong nationalist movements in many countries, when democracy and scientific freedom is endangered, and debate on climate change is being stifled; we hope that JEMS 2025 will serve as an opportunity for us to come together as a scientific community, so as to encourage each other in our daily actions against these fundamental changes.
The venue for JEMS 2025 is the Westend Campus of Goethe University Frankfurt, an exceptional location known for its park-like setting, historic architecture, and state-of-the-art lecture halls. It provides the perfect environment for scientific exchange and networking.
We look forward to welcoming you to Frankfurt—a dynamic city that blends history, culture, and modern innovation. Whether you attend in person or online, JEMS 2025 promises to be an inspiring and engaging event for the global magnetism community.
See you at JEMS 2025 in Frankfurt!
