Early Career Researcher Awards (ECR Awards)

Celebrating the future of aluminum science!

As part of ICAA 20’s commitment to fostering emerging talent, the conference will once again present the Early Career Researcher Awards to recognize outstanding contributions to the field of aluminum science, technology, and applications.

🏆 About the Awards

This prestigious award honors early-stage researchers whose work has already made a significant impact. Awardees will be invited to deliver a 20-minute plenary lecture at the conference and will receive a monetary prize.

👥 Who Can Apply?

Awards are offered in two categories:

  • Ph.D. Candidates & Recent Graduates: 2–3 awards for current Ph.D. students or those who completed their doctorate by 31 January 2025.
  • Postdoctoral & Early-Career Professionals: 2–3 awards for researchers who defended their dissertation within the last four years before the abstract deadline.

Applicants from diverse backgrounds, including underrepresented groups and international regions, are especially encouraged to apply.

📋 Application Requirements

Applicants must submit their abstract through the standard portal and upload a single PDF file including:

  1. Full CV with a list of publications and presentations
  2. A brief (max. 1000 words) description of current research activities
  3. One key publication authored by the applicant (in English)
  4. A recommendation letter from a Ph.D. advisor, postdoc supervisor, or current manager
  5. Proof of current status (e.g., student ID or employment confirmation)
  6. Proof of thesis defense or submission date (if applicable)

Note: If not selected for an award, your abstract will still be considered for inclusion in a regular conference session.

🗳️ Selection Process

Nominees will be evaluated and selected by members of the International ICAA Committee based on scientific excellence and clarity of communication.
