  • Discussion of perspectives, new developments, applications, and research findings in the industrial powder metallurgical production of formed parts, primarily made of sintered steel
  • Identification of research needs regarding porous sintered steels
  • Pre-competitive industrial collaborative research on sintered steels for formed parts to establish a basis for strength calculations and safety verification. The focus is on method development, determination of material properties, and the computational transfer of laboratory results to real components. The research topics should be suitable for expanding the application areas and possibilities of sintered components in the future. The primary focus is on investigating behavior under oscillating loads

The objectives of the Sintered Steels Expert Group lie in the realm of pre-competitive research (AVIF, IGF, AiF, DFG, etc.) and standardization on topics such as the strength properties or heat treatment strategies of sintered steels within the trade-off between price, function, weight, carbon footprint, and reliability. This is intended to strengthen the German-speaking powder metallurgy industry. This obliges us to pass on the knowledge generated from generation to generation. Therefore, young engineers are always welcome.
