The research of Collaborative Research Centre 1461 “Neurotronics” focuses on the information pathways in pattern recognition and cognitive tasks demonstrated by the species-specific interaction of animals with their immediate environment. Those bio-inspired information pathways are of special interest for reverse engineering and represent attractive guidelines for entirely new computing architectures. With a concerted effort of a multidisciplinary team from the fields of neuroscience, biology, psychology, physics, electrical engineering, material science, networks science and nonlinear dynamics, fundamental information pathways in selected nervous systems are extensively studied with respect to their relevance as building blocks for novel, hardware-oriented computing.
With the conference Networked Matter - Intelligent Materials the members of CRC 1461 anticipate stimulating discussions, international networking opportunities, and the chance to explore synergies between different areas of research and technology.
