We would like to draw your attention to the increasing number of spam and phishing attempts in the context of scientific conferences. Unknown parties sometimes send emails requesting personal information, particularly regarding hotel bookings or registration, and include misleading payment links or offers.

Please do not share personal information with companies that are unknown to you and not clearly identified as partners of the German Society for Materials Science (DGM).

Fraudulent emails can also be reported to your email provider. In serious cases, consider notifying the consumer protection authority or the police.

Travel planning and hotel booking, conference registration, participant lists or other conference-related services. These messages often aim to create the impression of being connected to the event or its organizers, but they are not.

Please note

DGM does not work with any external providers for travel planning, hotel bookings, or registration. Hotel bookings should only be made via the links or contact information provided on the official conference website. If bookings are handled via DGM, all communication will come from email addresses ending in @dgm.de [or dgm-inventum.de]. DGM applies strict data protection standards and handles personal data responsibly.

Be cautious!

Check the sender’s email address carefully. Look for a professional email signature including full name and contact details. Be wary of unexpected emails, links, and attachments from unknown sources. When in doubt, contact the official event team or the recommended hotels directly.
