Intermetallic Phases

Intermetallic phases are crystalline compounds between metals with defined stoichiometry and often complex crystal structures. In materials they strongly affect mechanical properties, brittleness, corrosion resistance and high-temperature behavior; their formation is governed by alloy composition and thermal history.
