Requirements for aluminum are increasing: circularity, carbon footprint, alloy robustness, and component properties need to be considered together in development and application. The properties of an aluminum component result from the interplay of alloy composition, accompanying elements, process control, microstructure, surface condition, and component design.
The Expert Committee addresses aluminum alloys and their processing as well as sustainable process control, recycling, and eco-design. Further topics include corrosion, age hardening, joining, hybrid structures, AI-supported microstructure analysis, and sustainable materials data. These issues are considered across the materials and process chain.
Universities, research institutions, industry, and professional and industry associations contribute their perspectives to the exchange. The Expert Committee supports research initiatives and development projects and organizes events, seminars, training courses, and conferences on aluminum materials and their applications.
