The committee’s mission is to promote technical and scientific work in the field of powder metallurgy, in particular:

Initiating and fostering contacts between academia and industry
Regular exchange of experiences between institutes conducting scientific research in the field of powder metallurgy and the research and development departments of the PM industry regarding ongoing work and its results (e.g., in expert circles)
Providing information on public research funding in the field of powder metallurgy
Conceiving, organizing, and providing expert guidance for collaborative research within the framework of pre-competitive research projects
Organization of lecture events, seminars, and symposia in which reports are presented on the current status and developments in specifically designated PM fields
Recognition of outstanding achievements in the field of powder metallurgy and/or for the Committee on Powder Metallurgy through the awarding of the Skaupy Lecture or other honors
