Atom probe tomography produces three-dimensional, near-atomic reconstructions of material volumes by field evaporation of individual atoms combined with time-resolved mass spectrometry. It enables local composition analysis, cluster detection and interface studies with sub-nanometer resolution, though limited by specimen geometry and reconstruction artifacts.
