Sustainable Energy Research ZJU Activities and Research Progress

The SFS Alliance invites you to a webinar with Prof. Jianhua Yan of Zhejiang University on 24 July 2026 at 03 p.m. CEST. Prof. Yan is Director of the National Key Laboratory of Clean Energy Utilization. His research focuses include clean combustion, waste-to-energy, emission control of thermal processes, and the conversion and storage of renewable energies.

Under the title "Sustainable Energy Research ZJU Activities and Research Progress", Prof. Yan will first provide an overview of sustainable energy development in China and the associated technological challenges. He will then present selected research and development work from his laboratory.

The lecture covers, among other topics, low-emission combustion processes, multi-generation systems based on coal energy, ultra-low-emission technologies for coal-fired power plants, carbon capture, utilization and storage, waste-to-energy, green fuel synthesis, energy storage, solar thermal utilization, and applications of artificial intelligence for more efficient energy use.

For the Materials Science and Engineering community, the topic is relevant in several respects. Energy conversion, emission control, storage technologies and thermal processes are closely linked to materials, interfaces, high-temperature behavior, process stability and system integration. The webinar therefore offers a technical perspective on energy systems in which technological development, sustainability and materials-science questions are directly intertwined.

With this webinar, the SFS Alliance continues its activities to strengthen the international networking of scientific communities. The focus is on exchange on sustainability topics that bring together interdisciplinary research, technological development and societal responsibility.
