The 85-year-old Gleiter, who has been a member of the DGM since 1972, can point to further successes in addition to the two institutes founded in China: He was recently elected fellow and member of the Core Academy in the Division of Natural Sciences, an international association of renowned scientists to improve the global exchange of knowledge. 
In addition, Professor Dr. Dr. h.c. mult. Herbert Gleiter received an honorary doctorate from Lanzhou University, also in China, a few months ago.
