"Nothing is more constant than change!"

Since the beginning of the year, the website of the German Society for Materials Science has been relaunched and is still being continuously expanded - the transformation is in full process. With a new and clearer design we would like to provide you with up-to-date information about the activities of the DGM.

The Covid 19 pandemic continues to dominate all of our lives and is currently restricting us more than ever. Continued creativity is needed in carrying out our everyday work, digitalization as the means of choice, and new formats to combat the "ZOOM fatigue".

Therefore, even established professional societies have to break new ground again and again. True to Charles Darwin, "Nothing is more constant than change!" (Charles Darwin - 1809 - 1882).

Consequently, this year WerkstoffWoche will be daring something new. A new developed concept offers you an ambitious, international and all virtual format in September.

As part of "MaterialsWeek", from September 07 - 09, 2021, two top current topics with high application and material relevance will be presented to all of you each day. With a spotlight on sustainability, the focus will be placed on the following topics:

- Artificial Intelligence in Materials Science

- Materials Circular Economy

- Hydrogen - challenges for materials

- Lightweight design with advanced materials

- Additive manufacturing - innovative materials

- Materials for electromobility

Renowned national and international speakers will give an overview of the various topics in plenary lectures. Use our virtual conference platform to exchange ideas with the experts, participants and authors.

You would like to present a paper on one of the topics? Submit your abstract for a poster presentation including an optional poster video pitch. With a poster video pitch, you have the opportunity to briefly introduce and present your subject to the participants of the event. In poster sessions, you will also have the opportunity to actively interact with the participants on your poster directly.

We are looking forward to welcoming you at MaterialsWeek!
