The DGM-Mentoring-Program is moving ahead

For the first time, the Young Professionals Committee is offering a mentoring program for students in their final semesters in the 2021/22 academic year. The aim is to provide young graduates with support in making their own decisions about their future career paths and to promote a network beyond their studies.

To this end, the newly founded Mentoring Working Group began reviewing and evaluating mentor applications in June. A kick-off training session for the mentors was held at the beginning of October. With the help of the renowned trainer Dr. Cornelia Andriof, known among other things for her Method U and her TED Talk, the mentors' own understanding of their role, objectives, and practical assistance for the mentor/mentee relationship were developed. In the year, there will also be a supervision session for the discussion of practical issues.

The next step is to evaluate the mentee applications received and match them with mentors. The mentoring year kicks off in mid-November with the joint virtual kick-off event. Over the course of the year, further joint activities are planned, including a weekend at a self-catering house in Saarland with training sessions, excursions, and networking in spring 2022.

Mentees will conclude the mentoring year together with their mentors at MSE 2022 with the ceremonial presentation of the certificates of participation.
