Webinar: Solid Oxide Fuel and Electrolytic Cells - Function, Materials and State of the Art.

In 2022, there will again be a series of online events in the format "Die Jung-DGM präsentiert".

On March 24, Hon. Prof. Dr.-Ing. Norbert H. Menzler from Forschungszentrum Jülich kicked off the series after the winter break. As head of the department for solid oxide fuel and electrolysis cells, he first explained the reasons for the necessity of hydrogen in future technologies. After a brief overview of fuel and electrolysis cells and how they work, he went into more detail about solid oxide cells. Of particular interest were the material requirements for electrodes and electrolyte, as well as the limitations for long-term use. In the subsequent question and answer session, more than 50 participants were able to join in the discussion. Especially degradation was discussed in more detail, but also environmental influences such as the required air quality or the recycling of the cells were addressed.

We would like to thank Mr. Menzler for the exciting lecture and the insight into the state of the art of solid oxide fuel and electrolysis cells!
