The research interests of the Mathur group lie in the treatment of the process chain of ceramic materials, starting with the scalable production of nanoparticles and colloids, through their use in manufacturing processes of ceramic components, to component functionality and application. The research activities are characterized by a strong interdisciplinary research in the field of fabrication and application of nanostructured ceramic materials as well as the transfer of the findings into industrial applications.
In addition, the chair is active in the education of students and is significantly involved in the cross-cutting issues of sustainability and international networks. Against this background, Prof. Mathur's research group established the MRS (Material Research Society) University Chapter Cologne, which, among other things, organizes a regular lecture series for networking young and experienced scientists, as well as the ACerS Chapter Germany, founded in 2018, to promote and network young talents on the (inter)national research market.
