The motivation for the breakfast brunch in a convivial round of the new generation has been to revive the young DGM work, ideally in order to bring a new local group into being. What is needed for this? Above all, motivated comrades-in-arms who are interested in organizing new events and establishing them in the long term. The professors' breakfast was intended to arouse interest and to draw attention to the activities of the DGM. MatWerk students, PhD students and the invited guest Prof. Dr. Kay Weidenmann, Chair of Hybrid Materials at the University of Augsburg, met for breakfast in a relaxed atmosphere. Over coffee, rolls and typical Bavarian 'pretzels', the 40 or so participants took advantage of the time from 9:00 to 11:00 to make new contacts and find out about the work of the Jung-DGM. Besides the two young-DGM experienced organizers Kevin Postler (founding member jDGM Karlsruhe) and Michéle Scholl (jDGM federal team), both doing their PhD in Augsburg, Wassilios Delis from the federal team also supported the talks.
All participants who are interested in further events will meet again in a follow-up meeting until the end of the year to discuss the further procedure and the possible foundation of an own local group in Augsburg. Maybe there will be another location on the map of young DGM local groups in 2023?
Do you also want to initiate the foundation of a Young-DGM local group at your location?
