We are delighted with our DGM member, Prof Lorenz Ratke, who was awarded the John Hunt Medal of the IOM3 in December 2022 for his personal outstanding achievement in the science and technology of casting and solidification of metals.  

The Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining (IOM3) is a UK organisation dedicated to the promotion and development of the science and technology of materials, minerals and mining. Founded in 1851, it is the largest and oldest organisation of its kind in Europe. Each year, IOM3 awards a number of honours, medals and prizes to recognise the personal achievements of individual scientists, published work and contributions to the field.
