The DGM's Additive Manufacturing expert committee convened on 29 November 2023 with a total of 33 industry and research participants in attendance. Professor Ploshikhin, the committee's chair, welcomed the attendees, and representatives introduced themselves.
The meeting comprised two informative presentations and a review of a project outline. Sebastian Edelhäuser from EOS initiated the proceedings with a presentation on the opportunities and challenges of Intelligent Process Control in PBF-LBM Technology. He particularly focused on the Smart Fusion Technology for regulating laser power.
Following this, Simon Vervoort from the Fraunhofer Institute for Laser Technology (ILT) in Aachen presented current research findings on Process Monitoring in LPBF. In this context, he delved into the use of Machine Learning and the resulting possibility of combining various monitoring systems.
To conclude, the project outline "Laser Powder Bed Fusion (LPBF) of Aluminum Alloys with Adaptive Laser Intensity Distribution" from Fraunhofer ILT Aachen was reintroduced. The outline was presented by Mr. Andreas Vogelpooth.
