DGM supports Young-DGM in Augsburg with sustainable furniture

The DGM aids Young-DGM in Augsburg by sustainably repurposing furniture from the EUROMAT conference to redesign their study space.

The DGM is deeply committed to supporting young scientists. This commitment is exemplified in our latest initiative for the Young-DGM in Augsburg. As part of the redesign of their study space, we have passed on loungers and seating cubes from the EUROMAT conference to Young-DGM.

The donation of these seating furnishings reflects our commitment to sustainability while also allowing students to customize their learning spaces, both indoors and outdoors. It's a practical and eco-friendly solution that demonstrates how sustainability can be implemented in everyday life.

Michele Scholl, a member of the Young-DGM federal team and PhD student at the Institute for Materials Resource Management at the University of Augsburg, affirms the significance of this initiative: “Since we've just moved into the space, the work areas appeared quite sterile and not very welcoming. The seating cubes and lounge chairs finally add some color to the room and make it cozier. The fact that we could also prevent these pieces of furniture from being discarded aligns perfectly with the ethos of our Institute for Materials Resource Management!”

These measures now provide students with not only a comfortable learning environment but also serve as an example of conscious resource utilization. We are eager to see the creative paths that Young-DGM will embark on in this newly designed space.
