Entry Into Lightweight Materials – New Training Courses on the Topic of Composite Materials

Discover the world of composite materials: Ease into it with our training seminars at the Leibniz Institute for Composite Materials. Experience practical insights, learn about properties, calculations, and constructions. The first seminar takes place from 26 to 27 February 2024. Register now!

In nearly all technical applications, there is an ongoing demand for optimizations.

Mass reduction and cost-effectiveness often play a crucial role in this process. Composite materials with a plastic matrix can provide attractive solutions for these challenges. However, for those who haven't yet incorporated fiber-reinforced plastics into their operations, the threshold for adopting this new class of materials can be quite high.

To address this, speakers from the Leibniz Institute for Composite Materials (IVW) have developed two new training seminars with the support of the German Materials Society (DGM), aiming to facilitate an easy entry into the application of composite materials with a plastic matrix.

Since the seminars take place at the IVW in Kaiserslautern, participants will gain direct insights into practical applications during the two-day events.

The first seminar, "Introduction to Composite Materials: Properties, Calculations, and Constructions", is scheduled from 26 to 27 February 2024. The session will illuminate the specific properties of composite materials and, based on that, explore appropriate construction methods and design approaches. The training will be led by Prof. Dr. Joachim M. Hausmann and Dr.-Ing. Nicole Motsch-Eichmann and will be held in German.

The first training course had to be postponed. We will inform you as soon as a new date has been set.

The second event focuses on processing methods and simulation techniques. The training, "Processing of Composite Materials: Fundamentals, Process Chains, and Simulation", is scheduled from 9 to 10 October 2024. The session will be led by PD Dr.-Ing. habil. David May and will be held in German.

Both parts are aimed at participants from development and production who have little or no experience with composite materials. They can be attended individually and independently based on individual interests.

Therefore, sign up now for the first seminar in February!
