Material Fatigue

Material fatigue describes damage accumulation under cyclic loading leading to fatigue failure. Analytical concepts range from S‑N curves through fracture mechanics to micromechanical explanations of crack initiation and propagation. Influencing factors include stress amplitude, mean stress, surface condition, temperature and microstructure.
