Review: Second NFDI-MatWerk Tool Webinar

The second NFDI-MatWerk Tool Webinar was recently concluded with an exciting presentation by Prof. Dr.-Ing. Tim Dahmen. The topic "Visual Programming in Jupyter Lab" focused on Chaldene, an initiative of the German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence (DFKI). The platform, designed to work within the Jupyter Lab environment, provides a graphical programming language that aims to streamline complex programming tasks.

The webinar addressed the limitations faced by users of traditional tools such as ImageJ, which suffers from a lack of backward review capabilities and closed-core issues. Chaldeneoffers a solution by providing an automated technical setup and integration capability for programs like ImageJ, improving the user experience and fostering an open source community.

The session highlighted Chaldene's versatility in integrating different programs, similar to the LabVIEW approach, but with an emphasis on programming. Such a tool is critical to the NFDI initiative, which aims to consolidate and provide resources for research data management across disciplines.

Stay tuned for updates on our upcoming NFDI MatWerk tool webinars.

As part of the NFDI MatWerk initiative, Prof. Dahmen's team aims to improve Chaldene. The team is looking for postdocs, graduate students, lab assistants, and professionals with image data experience to participate in an online interview. More information:
