Joint Committee
Metal and Materials Physics

In 1958, the German Materials Society (DGM), the German Physical Society (DPG) and the German Iron and Steel Association (VDEh) formed a "Working Group on Metal and Materials Physics", whose task is to foster cooperation between scientists working in this field in Germany and to convey interest in and knowledge of metal and materials physics to other specialist circles.

Goals

Organization of the Spring Meeting of the Condensed Matter Section, together with other professional associations.

Main topics at the annual spring meeting are:

  • Diffusion and point defects
  • Electronic properties
  • Liquid and amorphous metals
  • Interfaces
  • Intermetallic phases
  • Material Design
  • Mechanical properties
  • Nanoscale materials
  • Phase Transformations
  • Quasicrystals
  • Growth
  • Hydrogen in metals

In addition, symposia on current topics are organized.
